AWWU does not tolerate the misuse of fire hydrants.

In accordance with Anchorage Water Utility Tariff Rule 15.5B, AWWU has established fire hydrant use practices and a permitting process.  These measures protect both public safety and the integrity of our water distribution system.  Violations will result in citations when observed.  All users are responsible for understanding and following these requirements—lack of awareness is not a valid defense and will not prevent enforcement actions.

In addition to Tariff Rule 15.5B, the following Anchorage Municipal Code provisions also apply:

•  AMC 26.40.020 – Compliance with Rules and Regulations
• AMC 26.40.040 – Prohibited Acts

Violations of AMC 26.40, or any related rules, permits, variances, or orders, may result in civil penalties under AMC 14.60.030, along with any other remedies or penalties allowed by law.
