AWWU Employees Earn MOA Recognition

Mayor Ethan Berkowitz recently announced the Municipality of Anchorage 2018 Employee Awards. Berkowitz and MOA Purchasing Director Ron Hadden, who chairs the Employee Incentive Committee, visited 3000 Arctic on April 25, 2018 to recognize three AWWU employees.

COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARD

Engineering Division Real Estate Coordinator Paul Hatcher volunteers for multiple organizations in Anchorage and impacts a wide spectrum of people with his work: the Boy Scouts of America, the Anchorage running community, Bike to Work Day and his church. Anchorage is richer for the many hours of service Paul cheerfully puts in every year.

HUMANITARIAN OF THE YEAR

Treatment Division Distribution Operator Rick Hancock went beyond his duties during a fire at the Eagle River Tesoro on March 1, 2018. Rick supported an Anchorage Police Department officer's efforts to extinguish the fire and render aid to a burn victim.

MERIT AWARD: SAFETY and ACCIDENT PREVENTION AWARD

Treatment Division Plant Operator Mike Silvernail continually improves workplace safety at the Eagle River Wastewater Treatment Facility to the benefit of his coworkers, contractors, and division staff. Mike consistently demonstrates his commitment and dedication to achieving a safe work environment at AWWU.
