Beautiful Anchorage Summer Weather
Forces AWWU To Break Records

AWWU broke both water production and water usage records on Sunday and Monday, July 11 and 12.

AWWU produced 60,089,980 gallons of water on Monday after Anchorage residents set an all-time four-hour water demand record of 97.4 million gallons on Sunday. With continual sunny and hot weather,  it became necessary for the Utility to operates its secondary water source, Ship Creek Water Treatment Facility, in addition to the primary Eklutna Water Treatment Facility and area wells.

As the weather cools and Anchorage receives cloud cover, the treatment plants and wells are returning to normal summer-time production levels of around 40 million gallons a day.
