Design and Construction Practices Manual
|
Thank you for your interest in the Anchorage Water and Wastewater Utility (AWWU) Design and Construction Practices Manual. The criteria and practices set forth in this manual are the minimum standards for sanitary sewer and water improvements within the Municipality of Anchorage. The criteria are derived from industry principles and practices, and criteria and practices of the latest version of Federal and State Regulations; Water and Wastewater Tariffs; Municipal Law; and Municipality of Anchorage Standard Specifications (MASS). Additionally, we have applied suggestions and construction standards received from developers, consulting engineers, contractors and the expertise of many Utility employees. This manual will supercede AWWU’s 1994 Design Criteria for Sanitary Sewer and Water Improvements. Our mission is to provide competitive, reliable, quality service to all customers, and to ensure orderly development of facilities within our service areas through continuous improvement while providing a return to the Municipality. The purpose of the manual is to assist in achieving this mission in a cost-effective manner, with due consideration of capital, operating and maintenance costs. Emphasis is placed on criteria that consider long-term maintenance needs of AWWU, resulting in better utility service at less cost to the Municipality and rate payers. To facilitate electronic use of this manual, please use the links embedded in the document to view and print the manual. We have also provided links to the AutoCAD templates for the drafting standards. For users who need or desire hardcopies of the manual, copies are available for purchase at the AWWU Headquarters Building, 3000 Arctic Boulevard, Planning Section (Room W120). In consideration of rapid changes in technology and/or construction practices, AWWU will amend this manual on an as-needed basis. AWWU will provide dates and links to the addendum on this internet web site as they are developed. Please submit any questions or comments to Steven Hughes at (907) 564-2720, or e-mail steven.hughes@awwu.biz
