The Minnesota-Benson sewer trunk, which was built in the early 1960s, is experiencing severe grease and tallow build up which requires additional maintenance from AWWU crews. Video inspection from late 2007 identified missing and misaligned pipes that are causing the build up. AWWU will repair and upgrade approximately 450 linear feet of existing sewer line along the western portion of Minnesota Drive between the intersections at Northern Lights Boulevard and Benson Boulevard. Upgrading the existing sewer line will extend the service life of the pipeline and reduce the need for maintenance, and avoid emergency excavation and pipe replacement.
